In my family; unofficially, the Christmas holiday season runs through Valentine's Day. [Let's just say:  "We ease into it, and we ease out of it!"] We celebrate three (3) birthdays in January. And who can forget Valentine's Day? Not I; says the all too eager one, not I! But; until then, there are the Day After Christmas and the New Year's Day sales to consider... 

Back when I worked in retail in the 80's, the Day After Christmas and New Year's Day sales were considered huge shopping days! Guess what? The Day After Christmas sale may be again this year, reportedly...

In a perfect world; we would have started holiday preparations in mid-September, at the latest! But; since the world is not perfect and we didn't, let's go from zero to 70 - in a matter of seconds! The tasks can be broken down by the week, or the day(s)! You choose!

1)  Got a planner, yet? Get one, pronto! [A spiral binder will do just fine, thank you very much!] Set a budget!

2)  Gonna take family photos? Do an outfit check, any day now!

3)  Get holiday videos and music together!

4)  Set up a wrapping/mailing station! Get mailing boxes, and wrapping essentials together:  an assortment of boxes, scissors, wrapping paper, holiday bags, tape, bows, ribbon, etcetera!

5)  Draft a Christmas card list, get Christmas cards, draft holiday letters, get holiday stamps!

6)  Decide what to cook! Get those recipes and ingredients; especially the spices, together!

8)  Check flatware, platters and decorations! And speaking of decorations, where are they? Will they be put up; some or all, before Thanksgiving? The day of? The day after? For somebody's sake, how about the weekend before? I'm just saying! And; of course, this means clean/clean/clean! Some; but not all folks, like to have a cleaned out and ready to add to refrigerator and freezer in anticipation of a whole lot of goodies! Makes sense to me; but yikes, do you have little or no time? Enlist the help of as many others as you possibly can! It is; after all, a family & friends affair! If push comes to shove, wipe everything down as best you can and let it go!

9)  Check the gift list, a-gain! The week of Black Friday; if not several days before in some instances, is an excellent time to score deals! Why wait until Thanksgiving Day when you don't have to? Then and again, Cyber Monday is the next best thing! Use both to your advantage: http://www.blackfriday.com ; http://www.cybermonday2015.com/! I think I'm starting to understand why gift cards are such a hit!

I tune into coats quickly, at collections! And that is interesting in and of itself! I am more of a jacket than a coat person! But shucks, I admire both! For instance...

Prada's coats! Prada was at the top of their game! The classic cut(s) with long, lean lines of color breathed new life into a wardrobe staple! I envision these coats being worn for years!

Fendi's leather jackets! Fendi was more subdued in color, but the different lengths caught the eye! They can be paired with as many things as one desires! They will bring a lot of enjoyment!

About tops, and other things...

My 'fall back' top has always been a candlelight blouse! In other words, an almost white blouse! [I'm chuckling!] It goes with everything, and can disguise a stain or two! White or off-white, you can't get too many of them, believe you-me !

And yes, "the rolling" really does have to be done just so! For the very best effect, anyways...

I concur, the best off duty outfit for stars and wanna be stars still is:  'the white t-shirt & jeans!' [In my case, 'rolled up shirt sleeves over a t-shirt & jeans!' Some of us have just got to be different, don't we?]

Each season we always hear "Buy this, buy that" to be en vogue! Frankly; if it looks good on you, you could wear a plastic bag and no one would complain! [Gawk maybe, but not complain!] Some folks seem to have it like that! This season if you get nothing else, I would recommend a neutral pair of wide leg pants! Fringe and some prints can be fun; but so what, so are other things! Besides you'll probably get tired of the fringe. I've seen some wearing it who looked more bothered by it than anything else! Geez! But back to things. In my book, a wide leg pair of pants can run the gamut of something wider than "a skinny jean" to something having the width of "palazzo pants!" Wide leg pants, palazzo pants, one and the same! You determine the width that feels A-O.K. I can guarantee you this:  you will have fun pairing them with all manner of shoes! Pants with movement is like a skirt with movement:  you feel alive!

All of that said about wide leg pants, this is 'tha year' to get lace up shoes!   [In my estimation, contrary to that of Vogue's! Don't get me wrong, I do like 'the fur lined loafer,' I just like the lace ups better!] I have rarely seen such an assortment; especially, the flat lace ups! Why I remember when most looked like granny shoes more than anything, don't you? My, we have come a long ways!

Days in the classroom are all about: that there denim!

We all know, folks wear a lot of different things to school. Some look pretty good, and some not so good. The true and tried has always been, and will always be:  that there denim! And why is that? It's all about the coolness factor! Levi & Strauss did not look back once after crafting "work wear" from denim! It was a hit!

A lady might want to consider having the following pieces of denim to round out her "casual wear" wardrobe. [Although a denim jacket is a real no brainer, we won't address that here yet. We'll wait until the weather begins to get cooler. That may not be as long as you think!]

1)  A denim dress...

2)  A pair of denim slacks or pants; better known as, blue jeans...

3)  A denim skirt...

4)  Denim shorts...

Got summer heat skin discomfort?

Hello!

With temperatures near or at 100 degrees on any given day since the beginning of June, it's no wonder our skin is feeling "worked over!" My summer heat skin discomfort came in the form of a tiny rash on the ear lobes, of all places! Given that I will walk in almost any weather; the exception being sleet or ice, I've learned what w-i-l-l work that comes straight from the kitchen ; Dairy products to the rescue! Cleanse skin with something milder than what you would usually use, and pat dry. Slather on milk, buttermilk, sour cream or yogurt! Leave on for 15 minutes and counting --- I leave mine on overnight --- and rinse. Moisturize. [Natural honey is my go to product!] Your skin will not only be comforted, but it will be brighter and more toned. How's that for naturale? The rash is gone...       

The LWD has been making waves all summer, and it's no wonder! Seeing all of that white makes me feel cooler already!

Got swimwear?

Hello!

Amazingly, the next few days will be cooler than the previous fourteen (14)! Can you believe it? I tell you the truth!

The 4th of July weekend is a great time to enjoy the water. If you're headed out to the beach in North Carolina; please, be ex-tra cautious! According to a CNN report earlier today, there have been a total of seven (7) shark attacks in the state this year already, some within mere hours of each other! I think I would read, have a picnic or go fishing on the beach, and swim elsewhere. I'm just saying...

I am one of those kind of gals who like one-piece swimwear with chic accessories, and/or two-piece swimwear with an athletic aesthetic, shall we say! A considerable amount of swimwear has become 'more underwear than swimwear!' I'm no prude that I know of; but, say it ain't so! Whatever you elect to wear, wear it in a way that depicts:  "the best you!" [Moderation can be a good thing!] Shop for swimwear like you would for blue jeans, and you can't go wrong! You know exactly what that entails!

Notice any neoprene? It appears to be 'a fabric of choice' that has begun to catch on in swimwear! "It's alright with me!" The fabric; and in some cases the cut, is akin to that of a wet suit. You'll get more protection, lift, and a whole lot of style!

Not that you will be wearing heels on the beach or anything; but do be aware, anything over three (3) inches is a visit to the podiatrist waiting to happen!
