The first day of fall is Thursday coming!

Hello!

I enjoy the changing of the seasons! After a hot and humid July and August, those of us who live here in the Sandhills are more than ready for a cool breeze or two. And make no mistake about it, a breeze is in the air! Give it a week or two, we'll be donning sweaters and jackets for sure!

Fall means county and state fairs, fall festivals, football, and the New York, London, Paris & Milan Spring 2017 Ready-To-Wear fashion shows! Yes! It also means apples, pumpkins, hay rides, and planning for the upcoming holidays. All in all, it's just a wonderful time of the year!

Ralph Lauren & Tom Ford's fall collections are out! Items are available for purchase; now, as in im-me-di-ate-ly! How cool is that? I like planning ahead; but, sometimes one just wants to be able to walk into the store, find it, put it on, and walk out! I've done it, a many a time! Back to the present!

The brown + black = Western Wear, in Ralph Lauren's latest collection! Oh, joy! The hats, the necklaces (especially the collars), the sweaters, the jackets, the boots! Aaaaah, so thrilling! His basic aesthetic is that of  "country, and city chic!" He gets it! I've been a fan since my retail days up in Virginia at an exclusive ladies fashion store! Can you tell? Why I'm still wearing some pieces of his that I obtained 20 years ago, and counting! Now, that is dressing!    

Tom Ford makes the yummiest Men's Wear, especially formal wear! It is sharp, sharp as a tack! My, my, my!

You just had to bring up biscuits, now didn't you? Do you know how to make them? Well, cut it out! I'm just saying! Actually, I want one! Now!

Tomorrow is Constitution Day! Read ours lately?

Spring 2017 Ready-To-Wear is showing!

Hello!

I do my best to keep up with the collections as they come out. Sometimes I'm on top of it, sometimes I'm not. Often times, the collections seem half over before they pick up steam! Well...

I've already clocked in viewing 30+ collections! [One year I'm going to go to New York City, and have a front row seat!] I'm seeing what I term Active Wear; more than anything. You know, stuff that you can wear out and about, as after work gear, as athletic or as weekend wear. It would seem that designers are making a concerted effort to "keep it real," these days. I'm all for that, but I want to experience a sense of style, no matter what I'm doing or what I'm wearing. Know what I mean? Dressing well and seemingly appropriate is a bit of an art... 

The Spring 2017 Ready-To-Wear; herein referred to as RTW, collection that has caught my attention the most is ATM Anthony Thomas Melillo. The fabrics seem to have a certain liquidity. The colors are mostly neutral, enabling easy mixing-and-matching. The cuts are body conscious enough. I would love to have several pieces. I'm a definite layerer. Is that a word? Probably not; but, I want to be able to put piece upon piece spring, summer, winter or fall. Oh, the thrill of creating something not worn before just one more time without having to go to a store. It can be done! Can I get a witness?

I am waiting with anticipation to see what else is new for the spring season. Surprise me someone, surprise me!  

Tom Ford did the thinkable! He showed the Fall 2016 RTW collection closer to fall, and has it available for immediate purchase! What do you know about that? Great fashion! Great timing!

Pull out your utilitarian green! It's here, there and everywhere! This season is probably a good one to get it in jewelry, scarves, bags and shoes. In other words, accessories...

My 'just graduated college' niece collects barbies. One of these days they could be valuable. I hope so. They are iconic...

Until the leaves begin doing their thing, the National Folk Festival in Greensboro looks interesting. This will makes its second year. Wanna go?

Fall may be around the corner, but Christmas is already in the air!

Hello!

And, I am loving it! Christmas is such a special time of the year! Why not spread the joy, whenever you are ready to that is, up until then? You do not want to wait until December to start preparations, you know? O.K., now that that has been said...

Heard of Sprezzabox, yet? It's a "male subscription service!" For $30.00 a month, a man can receive up to six accessories. The box usually has a tie, socks and pocket squares; but, September's box had a watch. Not bad, not bad at all! In-house designs are part and parcel now, too. In the future, the boxes are expected to become personalized. With the addition of bow ties and suspenders, I may want to get a box every month for me! What a great gift idea!

Walmart's holiday layaway program began today, coinciding with the release of its Top 25 Holiday Toy list! What do you know? Here comes something!

This is one of the best weekends of the year to shop, and save! Your favorite stores will have savings on summer merchandise. I want a supply of peanut butter to last me for the rest of the year! See, I'm not hard to please...

Have you been putting on your deodorant correctly? I guess I haven't. Check this out! Who's worried? Dial Professional Antiperspirant & Deodorant works quite well for me, thank you. I have to wash it off! I get it at Dollar Tree...

We do plenty of sweet potatoes down here in the south. I'm ready for more pumpkin or apple dishes. And you?

Still saving, after all of these hot, muggy days!

August is quickly coming to an end! Have you gotten your savings on?

I'm not so sure that it pays to rush out and get school clothing or supplies anymore; unless of course, you need a big ticket item such as a computer. Still, bargains can be had for the checking by shopping online and at discount stores. Woman's Day reminds us of this so that we can be savvy about our spending... 

When Sephora speaks, we listen! You may get a Free Mascara Remover Wand, and a Free Urban Decay Matt Liquid Foundation. Also, you may get a Smashbox Palette, a Bag of 8 Fragrance Samples, a Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation Deluxe Sample, a Christophe Robin Regenerating Hair Mask Deluxe Sample or 3 Free Samples with a purchase! Now; go get 'em, girls!

Lady Taraji P. Henson has a MAC Collection. The neutrals are niiiiice! The golds and bronzes are complimentary to deeper skin tones, or anyone wanting a warm glow. I like! My idea of good makeup; anymore, is "polished nudes!" So there...

I can appreciate coats, but I'm more of a jacket girl myself! The jackets to have for fall are bomber and leather jackets. Either will carry you through the cold weather season with flair...

Some of the prettiest leather jackets that I have seen anywhere are at Lafayette 148 New York. The materials are sumptuous ; the cuts are classic ; the colors are vibrant. The pink-peach, the lime-green, the royal-blue, and the lemon-yellow are all colors that I would gravitate toward. I know, Lafayette's items are out of the reach of most of us; however, I found a good selection of leather jackets at Wilsons Leather, too. And guess what? They are 40-75% off! It doesn't get much better than that. But if you want to go under the $100 price point, check out HM. They have good pieces at prices that will make you smile...      

Getting away once in a while adds to our quality of life! Why not go to U.S. National Parks for FREE? You still have a couple of days left!

Baby, put your denim on!

Hello!

We've got to have denim:  jackets, jeans, skirts, shorts! For some folk, the rattier, the better! Whatever!

A denim jacket is a must! It will work with everything, from denim on denim to dressier wear. If worn with dressier wear; as in formal wear in this instance, carefully consider:  1)  what it is worn with, and  2)  the color/finish/design of the jacket. One can be pleasantly surprised at what works with what. I kind of like wearing something a little unexpected, every now and again. What can I say? We ladies do what we do!

Finding jeans that work does not have to be the chore that we make it out to be! The key is to find the makings of a trend that you like, and select what works best for you. For instance, torn, AKA, ratty jeans are all over the place these days. Some I like, and some I don't. A pair of vintage jeans is an altogether different matter! The worn in feel and look appeals to me, for most days. Enter Levi's Vintage Clothing Jeans! But; truth be told, I'm more likely to get spic-n-span brand new jeans in various shades of blue, and wear them un-til! Can I get a witness? Hey, do what 'ya gotta do!

I go to the denim skirt rack before I go to any other. There is just something about those skirts! And as far as I'm concerned, denim shorts aren't really denim shorts unless they are cut offs! I'm just saying! Note:  for most of us, a cut half way of the thigh is quite flattering enough! Smile!

Are you aware of Madewell's Denim Forever Tour?  How cool is that? Never, ever throw jeans away says I!

Pssssst! The best time to purchase jeans is not in August! It's in September! O.K., have at it!

Teeing up!

Hello!

Tee shirts are "the go to tops," for most folks attending school. Age makes absolutely no difference! As a baby boomer who likes to #MsMixAndMatchEm along with the best, it is a part of the repertoire! Think:  tee shirt, button-down blouse and denim jacket! But if it happens to be particularly cold, I add a polo shirt and sweater to the mix. It does not get; let alone stay, but so cold here in the Sandhills. Anyways...

If Polyvore is any indicator, tee shirts with graphics; AKA, prints are still IT! Color tee shirts are too. And least I forget to mention it, cropped tees and/or tee shirts that fall at the hips are perennial favorites. Not all schools are thrilled about some designs or accompanying messages. Tread carefully! If in doubt, ask. Might I recommend stripes? They are always in!

Uniglo's Women's Disney Project Graphic Tee has to be the cutest I've seen this season! It only costs $14.90! Get one! Get two!

Maison Margiela's Cotton T-Shirt with Pocket got a lot of likes! It must be the; what I assume to be, red lipstick print! It just kind of make you happy, doesn't it?

Opening Ceremony's Pink Tie-Dye T-Shirt provides a nice pop of color; not to mention, interest too!

So tell me now; whaccha gonna wear, with that denim or bomber jacket? You are going to see and be seen! Speaking of which...

Have you seen this lady getting a haircut? What a hoot! But who hasn't sectioned off the hair, getting it as straight as possible, before hacking away? This made my day! The results couldn't get any better! I wish mine had...

If you haven't gotten a vacation in yet, the cheapest week to travel this summer experiment results may get you moving! I've been telling my extended family all along that the best time to have a family reunion is the July 4th, the Memorial Day or the Labor Day weekend! Will they or won't they? Time will tell!   

Keep doing it; Team USA, keep doing it!

School bells will be ringing!

Hello!

Get your sneakers game on!

From all appearances, sneakers for the Academic School Year 2016-2017 will have...

1)  White bottoms.

2)  White, tan, black or bold color tops; mostly, bold color tops.

3)  A mix of white, bold color and/or patterned tops.

4)  A platform heel.

It's not about just whites anymore, and I'm tickled! With such an array of sneakers to select from, we can have a pair for every day of the week; not to mention, every occasion! Oh dear, I've gone and said it now! Hold your wallets a little bit closer, parents!

I'm very partial to Miu Miu's cap toe sneakers. Polyvore has a good selection. Oh, boy!

The Olympic Games Rio 2016 are a reminder to get in and stay in shape. Walking works for me, but I'm about to launch out into bicycling too. That may require a little something, something extra! Well...

July 2016 was so hot, I trust that your whites are holding up. Now is a good time to replenish the stash...

I'm hun-gry! All that I've had to eat so far today is iced tea flavored with watermelon cubes; it's yummy, two slices of buttered cinnamon toast, a peach and a plum. I'm all for moderation; but, honestly! What do you suggest?
